David Cumberbatch is an RHR partner who applies over 30 years of experience in leadership development to a wide range of clients in the UK and internationally. He devotes his time to CEO succession, executive team effectiveness, and senior executive development. David believes a leadership coach must direct impactful conversations that help executives better understand themselves and the companies they lead. He derives particular satisfaction from individual coaching and having a direct impact on leaders and their leadership qualities.

David’s prior experience in leadership consulting and as a human resources director enables him to bring a strategic focus to his projects. A member of RHR’s Center of Excellence for Testing, David is passionate about enhancing RHR’s psychometric assessments, as he often leverages these assessments to help determine a client’s readiness to reach new career heights. Before joining RHR, David managed teams at leading UK consulting firms and worked with global clients to solve their challenges related to executive selection and development, senior team effectiveness, culture change, and organizational development.

David holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Bolton and a master’s degree in organizational psychology from the University of Bristol. David is an avid reader and enjoys anything in print that helps him understand the behavioral impact of key events in people’s lives. He enjoys all things that happen in, on, or under the water; serves on the board of directors as a trustee of an arts charity; and can often be found strolling around and enjoying the architecture of his home city.
