Michael Quoia is a partner and senior leadership consultant at RHR who offers more than 20 years of experience designing and delivering client engagements that result in demonstrable client impact. He has earned the trust of chief executive officers, boards, and chief human resources officers with their most important strategic talent issues. He brings sound judgment and provides actionable advice when working with CEOs and C-suite executives on succession planning and executive development programs. With deep experience advising large- and midsized companies and startups, he has broad industry experience including technology, healthcare, financial services, industrial companies, and consumer products. He particularly enjoys fast-paced, high-stakes work with private equity clients and their portfolio companies.

Michael brings an analytical and rigorous approach to his work assessing leaders and teams and an empathetic and supportive approach when developing others. His coaching style balances inquiry with practical advice. The complexity and dynamism of developing teams and people excite him. He believes all leaders can grow and develop, and he is particularly passionate about developmental psychology and helping leaders transform themselves as they navigate leadership, career, and life transitions.

Before joining RHR, Michael held senior roles focused on executive assessment, senior team effectiveness, and executive coaching as a leadership consultant at Russell Reynolds Associates, KSE Leadership, The Miles Group, and Heidrick & Struggles. Earlier in his career, he worked as a strategy consultant at McKinsey & Company, and he was formerly a leader and manager in the United States Navy.

Michael holds a master’s degree in business administration from the Stanford Graduate School of Business as well as a master’s degree in education from the Stanford Graduate School of Education. He is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy with a bachelor’s degree in systems engineering.

Based near the natural beauty of Muir Woods National Monument in the San Francisco Bay Area, Michael enjoys trail running, hiking, skiing at Lake Tahoe, and cooking Thai and Ethiopian food for family and friends.
